Account security, data export, and deletion

Keep your account safe with lockout protection, export everything you own in standard formats, and understand exactly what deleting your account removes.

Last updated Jul 23, 2026

Your account is the front door to every workspace you own, so Soontra protects it on the way in and keeps you in control on the way out. This article covers sign-in security, taking your data with you, and what account deletion actually does.

None of it is hidden behind a support ticket — security, export, and deletion are all things you can do yourself.

Password, lockout, and sign-in security

If someone tries to guess your password over and over, Soontra slows them down and then locks password sign-in for that account for a short while. During a lockout, Google sign-in and magic links keep working — so a stranger hammering at your password can't lock you out of your own account.

Forgot your password? Reset it via email from the sign-in screen. And changing your password from inside the app requires your current one first, so someone at your unlocked screen can't quietly take over. The full sign-in guide is at Create your account and sign in.

Export everything you own

Your data is yours to take. Files, projects, analytics, and documents are exportable in standard formats anytime — not just when you're leaving.

If you cancel, your data stays accessible for 30 days so you can pull what you need. After that it's deleted, unless you ask us to hold it longer.

Delete your account

Deleting your account is deliberate by design:

  1. Confirm your identity with your password and a captcha.
  2. Name a successor for your Personal drive space, so files your team depends on aren't orphaned.
  3. Confirm, and a status page tracks the deletion's progress until it completes.

What happens to workspaces and files

Deleting your account also stops any billing you're responsible for: deleting a workspace cancels its subscription, so nothing keeps charging after you're gone. Your Personal drive space passes to the successor you named, which is why naming one is required — teammates keep working with the files they need. For offboarding a teammate rather than yourself, see Manage workspaces, members, and roles.

If anything here doesn't go smoothly — a reset email that never arrives, an export question, a deletion you want to talk through first — contact support from inside the app, where you can also leave feedback. And if you left during a trial and changed your mind within the 30-day window, How the 7-day free trial works explains what's still recoverable.
