Client review should not start with "first, make an account." Share links turn any single file — a video, an image, a document, or a PDF — into a link that opens in a clean viewer built for that file type. The person on the other end watches, reads, and comments; you keep control of who can do what, and every note flows back into your workspace.
Create a share link
Share links are per file: pick a file, create its link, and send it. Anyone with the link can open that one file and nothing else. The link is not listed anywhere and search engines are asked to skip it — it only works for the people you actually send it to.
Need to end a review round? Make a fresh link any time; the old one stops working the moment you do.
Passwords and expiry
Two guardrails keep links from outliving their purpose:
- Password — lock the link so only people with the password can open it; remove it whenever you want. A locked link even hides the file-name-and-thumbnail preview until it is unlocked.
- Expiry — set the link to expire after one day, a week, a month, or never. An expired link shows a clear expired state instead of the file.
What guests can do
You control two switches, each set separately:
- Allow comments — on by default, so reviewers can leave feedback, reply, and react with emoji out of the box.
- Allow downloads — off by default, so guests can view without walking away with the file unless you say so.
Guest comments support the same precision as internal review: pinned to a second of video, a page of a PDF, a line of a document, or a circle drawn on an image.
How guests identify themselves
Guests do not need an account. To comment, they simply enter a name — and optionally an email — once, and their feedback carries that name from then on. No sign-up wall between you and the feedback you asked for.
Logged-in visitors get the full review experience
If your link reaches someone who is signed into Soontra but is not in your workspace, they get more than the public page: the file opens in the full media editor in review mode, with the complete commenting toolkit. Everyone else stays on the simple guest viewer — and either way, all the feedback lands in the same place for you.
Track views
Each link tracks its view count, so you know whether the client has actually opened the cut before the check-in call. Combined with comment notifications, you will know both that they looked and what they thought — see comments and mentions for how the feedback comes back to you.
