X and LinkedIn round out Soontra's five publishing destinations, and they behave a little differently from the rest: both are publish-only. You can compose, schedule, and deliver to them, but neither has an analytics dashboard in Soontra — performance lives on the platforms themselves.
Plan requirements: Creator and above
Posting to X and posting to LinkedIn each require the Creator plan or above. X additionally supports 1 connected account per social set. If you're on Free or Starter, see plans and pricing for what an upgrade unlocks.
X: posts and threads
An X post gives you 280 weighted characters — every URL counts as 23 no matter its real length, and most emoji count as 2, so the visible length and the weighted length can differ.
For longer ideas, build a thread: a lead post plus up to 50 follow-up posts, each with its own text and media. The composer's thread builder lays the chain out in order so you can balance the copy and attachments across entries before anything goes out.
X media and duplicate-content rules
- Up to 4 images or 1 video per post.
- Image: up to 5 MB. GIF: up to 15 MB. Video: up to 512 MB and 140 seconds.
LinkedIn: posts and media
A LinkedIn post carries up to 3,000 characters of commentary and either 1 video or 1 image (JPG or PNG) — there's no multi-image carousel through the API. The live preview in the composer shows exactly how the commentary truncates in the feed, so you can put the hook where it counts.
LinkedIn's daily budget
LinkedIn allows 150 API requests per day per member, resetting at midnight UTC. Normal posting rarely gets close, but a heavy day of posts and retries draws from the same budget. When it's exhausted, further deliveries fail until the reset — Soontra surfaces this as a clear error, and troubleshooting failed posts covers how to recover without double-posting anything.
