Most posts deliver without a hitch. When one doesn't, Soontra is built to fail loudly, partially, and recoverably: you'll always know what failed, the destinations that succeeded stay delivered, and a retry never duplicates anything.
How delivery works
When a post publishes, each destination delivers independently. Your YouTube upload, Instagram Reel, and X post are separate deliveries that succeed or fail on their own — one platform having a bad moment never blocks the others. Every publish failure triggers a notification, and publish-failure notifications are mandatory — they can't be disabled in notification settings, so a failed post can never disappear silently.
Partial success across destinations
Because destinations are independent, a post can land in a partial state: Instagram delivered, X failed. The post shows a per-destination status so you can see at a glance which platforms received it and which need attention. Partial success is normal recovery territory, not a broken post — the delivered destinations are done, and only the failed ones need you.
Retry a failed destination
A failed destination shows a friendly error explaining what went wrong, plus a retry action. Retrying re-attempts only the failed destination — destinations that already delivered are never re-posted, so there's no risk of duplicating a live post while you fix the stragglers.
Common failures by platform
The same few causes account for most failures:
- Instagram — the account hasn't completed Page Publishing Authorization (including two-factor authentication) in Facebook Page settings. Complete it, then retry.
- X — duplicate content: X rejects text identical to an earlier post. Vary the copy, then retry.
- LinkedIn — the daily budget is exhausted (150 API requests per member per day). Wait for the midnight UTC reset, then retry.
- TikTok — the required consent wasn't given for the publish. Re-run the publish and complete the privacy and consent step — see publishing to TikTok.
When a scheduled post misses its window
If a scheduled post can't deliver at its slot, Soontra retries for 24 hours. If it still hasn't succeeded, the post returns to unscheduled — it won't fire hours late without your say-so. Fix the underlying cause, then drag it onto a new slot on the calendar.
