If your existing content lives in Google Drive, you don't have to download and re-upload it by hand. Connect Google Drive to Soontra and import files directly into your workspace.
Google Drive is the only file integration Soontra offers, and it works differently from your continuously synced social channels — imports are copies, not a live link. Here's how the whole flow works.
Connect in Settings → Connections
Go to Settings → Connections and connect Google Drive. Each workspace member connects their own Google account — you approve access on Google's own page, so your Google password is never typed into Soontra.

Pick files and folders
Once connected, you choose what to bring in using Google's own file picker. You can select items from My Drive, Shared with me, or Shared Drives — Soontra receives access only to the items you choose, nothing else in your Google account.
You also pick a destination: your Team or Personal space in Soontra. One thing to review before importing: a Team destination can make a copy visible to other workspace members even if the original Google item had a narrower audience. Soontra shows the destination before the import runs so you can check it first.
Imports are snapshots, not a live sync
Every import creates an independent, point-in-time copy in your Soontra Drive. From then on, the copy is yours:
- Later edits, renames, or deletions in Google Drive do not update or remove the Soontra copy.
- Deleting the Soontra copy doesn't touch the Google original.
- Disconnecting Google Drive blocks new imports, but your already-imported files stay in your Drive until someone with permission deletes them.
Imported files count against your Soontra storage just like uploads, so large imports draw from the same quota — check Upload files for the limits that apply.
Index imported files
Once imported, files behave exactly like files you uploaded directly: they appear in your Drive, they can be organized into folders, attached to projects, and shared — and they can be AI-indexed so you can search inside them by content. A good pattern for a big migration: import in batches, index the footage you'll actually search, and leave archival material unindexed until you need it.
